OUR STORY

Hull & East Yorkshire's only registered charity for dyslexia.

Our Story

Dyslexia Sparks was founded in August 2016, with a mission to support dyslexic individuals across the Hull and East Yorkshire region.

Co-founded by Founding Director, Jane Craig, and previous Centre Manager, Mary Robinson, Sparks quickly established itself as the leading provider of dyslexia support within the area.

Sparks was born out of a passion for helping people reach their potential and find their inner SPARK. It’s built on many years’ experience of understanding the barriers dyslexic individuals face, and a desire to ensure they can overcome these challenges.

At Sparks we are a charity who puts CARE at the heart of what we do – we care about the people we work with, we care about what they’re going through, and we care about their futures – and we are committed to doing what we can to ensure their future becomes what they want it to be.

Our mission:

To support dyslexic individuals of all ages to identify their strengths and learning needs – enabling them to overcome any barriers, make progress and to reach their full potential.

We recognise the impact that dyslexia can have on significant others and extend our support to the families of dyslexic individuals.

We offer understanding, professionalism and a safe environment within which this mission can be achieved.

Our Vision:

A world where dyslexic individuals are valued and celebrated for what they have to offer.

We envisage a world where dyslexic individuals can unleash their inner spark in order to make valued contributions – at school, work and in the wider community.

We aspire for schools, workplaces and governing bodies to support this vision by designing and implementing policies and procedures which allow dyslexic individuals to be fully supported.
