Samantha Buttle has taken over the role Interim CEO, as the charity begins an exciting new chapter under her leadership.
Having been part of Dyslexia Sparks from the very beginning, Sam has helped shape the charity into what it is today. She has worked alongside thousands of young people, families, schools and businesses, developing and delivering the specialist dyslexia support and trusted relationships that are at the heart of the organisation.
Now, as Dyslexia Sparks celebrates its 10th anniversary, we asked Sam what the future of Dyslexia Sparks looks like.
”Over the last ten years we've built something incredibly special. We've supported so many people to better understand dyslexia, realise their potential and help them to achieve their goals. I'm excited about what comes next for the charity.
My vision is to build on the strong foundations already in place while ensuring Dyslexia Sparks continues to evolve to meet the changing needs and demands of the community.
Families and individuals will always be at the heart of everything we do. My priority is to continue delivering the high-quality, person-centred support that people trust and associate with our charity, while listening carefully to our community to develop the services that make a genuine and lasting difference.
Looking ahead, I want to expand successful projects and services such as our specialist tuition programme, which continues to achieve outstanding outcomes, and the Sparks Book Project, which is inspiring more children to read by providing free books. I’ll also be working to reduce the financial and social barriers that can prevent people from accessing diagnosis and specialist tuition by increasing bursary support for the region. Celebrating the impact of our fantastic team and strengthening partnerships across education, business and the wider community will also play an important part in bringing that vision to life.
Dyslexia Sparks has always been about far more than reading and writing. It's about helping people believe in themselves. When someone understands how they learn, they're empowered to thrive. That's what inspires me every day, and it's what will continue to drive the charity forward.
Although this is a time of change, the charity's purpose remains the same. Dyslexia Sparks will continue to champion dyslexic individuals, challenge barriers and provide specialist support that transforms lives.”
