Our Story

Hull and East Yorkshire’s Only Registered Dyslexia Charity

Supporting Dyslexia Since 2016

Dyslexia Sparks was co-founded in 2016 by our Director Jane Craig, with a mission to support dyslexic individuals across the Hull and East Yorkshire region. Sparks quickly established itself as the leading provider of dyslexia support within the area.

The charity was born out of a passion for helping people reach their potential and find their inner SPARK. It’s built on many years’ experience of understanding the barriers dyslexic individuals face, and a desire to ensure they can overcome them.

Jane Craig, Founding Director

Dyslexia Sparks is truly my baby (after my two boys!) - I have nurtured it, looked after it in the hard times, and watched it grow and develop beyond my expectations. I am continually inspired by the people I have the pleasure of supporting through the charity, and believe that without Sparks many individuals would be struggling to reach their potential. Leading a charity does not come without its challenges, especially in the current economic climate, but I will continue to strive for Sparks to remain the number one provider of dyslexia support in the region, and am committed to widening our reach.

Adapting, Growing & Moving Forward

As the demand for our services has developed, we’ve made changes so that we can continue providing high quality support, including moving premises. Starting our journey at Hull CVS on Beverley Road, we most recently relocated to Dunston House on Livingstone Road in Hessle – providing us with calm and welcoming spaces to deliver our services.  Over the years we’ve expanded our team and our services with experienced staff, and continue to strive to provide the best possible support for our community.

If you would like to get involved with the charity in any way, please get in touch.
