Introduction to Dyscalculia – Free Online Event

Does your child struggle with developing maths skills and understanding mathematical concepts? Do you suspect your child may have a maths-related learning difficulty but are unsure what support is available to help?
Join Dyslexia Sparks’ free online support session – Thursday 11th March, 10am – for an introduction to dyscalculia: a specific learning difficulty that affects the ability to acquire mathematical skills.
This session will be of interest to any parent/carers and teachers that want an introduction to what dyscalculia is, the signs to look out for and the support that’s available to help in Hull and East Riding.
The introduction to dyscalculia session will include:

  • an overview of what dyscalculia is
  • the signs that can indicate somebody is dyscalculic
  • the services available to help dyscalculic individuals in our region and how you can access them
  • how dyscalculia can be diagnosed
  • details of the financial support to eligible households in the region to help with the cost of specialist tuition and diagnostic dyscalculia assessments

Dyslexia Sparks is Hull and East Yorkshire’s only registered charity for dyslexia and associated specific learning difficulties.

The session will be led by our Senior Specialist Teacher and Assessor, Sam Buttle, and is held as part of our free, monthly online parent support group.

You’ll also have the chance to gain advice from our specialist team.

Places are free but limited and must be booked in advance to receive the online meeting link. For further details and to book, please visit our Eventbrite page or contact us directly at nicola.markham@dyslexia-sparks.org.uk
